Parish Health Department Providing Flu Vaccines for Children Ages 6 Months to 18 Years Old

This year, more than ever, it is very important to get your flu vaccine EARLY! The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone age six months and older get the vaccine.

The flu and COVID-19 share symptoms, such as fever, cough, and respiratory problems. Both are spread through close contact with people who are infected. Still, they are different viruses, and the flu shot will not protect you against COVID. However, by reducing your chances of getting the flu, the vaccine can help keep you out of the doctor’s office or hospital. The flu can weaken your immune system, making you more susceptible to other infections.

The Plaquemine’s Parish Health Department currently has a limited supply of flu vaccines available for children ages 6 months to 18 years old ONLY. We are awaiting the adult vaccines with no time frame given for delivery due to COVID related delays.  We will share information as it becomes available.  Please call the Plaquemines Parish Health Department at 504-934-6690 for appointments and for more information. All visits must be scheduled. We are not accepting walk-in appointments currently and patients will not be seen unless scheduled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
