Preparation

Process

The planning process the Parish takes is an "all hazards" approach; meaning there are many different types of threats or hazards that could impact Plaquemines Parish. For every conceivable threat to the Parish, the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has specific emergency action plans in place, including strategies for prevention/deterrence and risk mitigation. The Parish encourages all residents and business owners to do the same - have a plan, both a family plan and business plan.

Steps

If there is an emergency of any type, a hurricane, chemical spill or terrorist attack, the Parish has specific steps it will implement. What you can do to keep safe is follow the directions of your local officials. In the event of an emergency, you need to monitor your radio, television and the Parish website for local news and emergency instructions.

Registration

Make sure you have registered your home phone, cell and email with the Emergency Notification System.

In the event of an evacuation or other storm emergency, you will be contacted by the Parish with specific information and emergency instructions. This is a free service.
