Starting tomorrow, Monday, September 3, 2012, residents, business owners, and workers can return to south Plaquemines Parish ON THE WEST BANK ONLY from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with a police escort. From 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. residents, business owners, and workers can leave south Plaquemines Parish with police escort. They will be escorted on the Mississippi River levee. The time during the day between south and north escorts will be used to maintain the integrity of the levee. Parish officials will be on site to ensure that no recreational vehicles are allowed through. Residents will need proof of residency and business owners and workers will need credentials or other proof of employment to get through road blocks.
The convoy going south from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. should drive south on Hwy 23 to the road block. The convoy going north from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. should drive north on Hwy 23 until the road block.
The ban of alcohol sales in Plaquemines Parish has been lifted.
The dusk to dawn curfew has been lifted north of the Alliance Refinery on the west bank.
A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center is set up at the Belle Chasse Auditorium at 8398 Hwy 23 in Belle Chasse. The Disaster Recovery Center will be set up from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily. Residents affected can register here for individual assistance, small business loans, and other resources. Residents can pick up water, ice, and MRE’s at Idlewild, 11422 Hwy 23 in Belle Chasse, the Port Sulphur fire Station at 114 Civic Dr., and the Boothville-Venice Fire Station at 42661 Hwy 23 daily from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
