Plaquemines Parish Acquires New Airboat
Plaquemines Parish recently purchased an airboat with a FEMA grant received by the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Office of Emergency Preparedness. The 18 foot long Panther airboat seats eight passengers with removable seats to carry generators in case of an emergency.
The boat will also be used for search and rescue during hurricanes and high water events, levee assessments, possible sand bagging operations, and monitoring coastal restoration projects. “This airboat is yet another tool to help us better serve and protect residents of Plaquemines Parish. We couldn’t do this without the help of our partners, the Governor’s Office and FEMA,” said President Nungesser.
