Gate to Close on Highway 23

August 27, 2012 -10:00 p.m. 

Belle Chasse - As an emergency response measure, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in conjunction with the DOTD and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Department has made the decision, Monday, August 27, 2012 to close the eastern tie-in construction closure on Highway 23 and Oakville, Louisiana beginning at midnight.

The southbound lanes will close first.  Residents south of Oakville will need to use northbound travel lanes as an evacuation route until the Corps’ personnel are directed to close the northbound lanes.  Northbound lanes will begin to close at approximately 6:00 am on Tuesday.  Once closed, authorized vehicles will have access to an emergency bypass road.
