Evacuation ordered for Parts of Plaquemines Parish

Update - Monday, August 27, 2012, 7:00 a.m. - All schools in Plaquemines Parish are closed until further notice. 

 

Belle Chasse - On Monday, August 27, 2012, starting at 12:00 p.m., Plaquemines Parish Officials are ordering a mandatory evacuation for the east bank of Plaquemines Parish. There will be a voluntary evacuation for the south end of Plaquemines Parish from Ironton to Venice. Tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. Belle Chasse Auditorium will be opened as a shelter.  All schools are closed except Belle Chasse High School, Belle Chasse Middle School and Belle Chasse Primary School. Residents should stay tuned to local news stations and the parish website for the latest updates.
