Grant Awarded to Repair Curbs & Sidewalks

A Community Development Block Grant was awarded through the Louisiana Recovery Authority to Plaquemines Parish. The grant was given for the purpose of repairing curbs and sidewalks in three areas of the Parish. Work is almost complete in Port Sulphur, Buras, and Braithwaite. 

Damaged curbs and sidewalks were replaced in Braithwaite and on Highway 23 in Port Sulphur from Civic Drive south to St. Patrick’s Church. The same was done on Highway 11 from Roger Halphen Field south to Giordano Street in Buras. Also, handicap ramps were added to intersections in all three locations. The total cost of the grant is $795,000.
