State of Emergency Declared for Plaquemines Parish

As of 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2013, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser has declared a state of emergency for Plaquemines Parish. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned to local news stations and the parish Website for updates in the event a voluntary evacuation is called for parts of the parish.

All Plaquemines Parish Schools are open on Friday, October 4, 2013.

All Plaquemines Parish Recreation Department games are cancelled for this weekend.

“We are fully prepared for a potential heavy rain event. All pump stations are operational and we have crews on stand-by,” said President Nungesser.
